Tottenham are reportedly interested in signing Peru international Christian Cueva, according to Libero (via FootballFanCast).

The Premier League side, who currently sit second in the English top-flight standings with only seven games remaining, still five points behind surprise league leaders Leicester City, are thought to be considering a £15.7m bid for the Toluca forward.

The 24-year-old, who has 12 international caps for his country, featured in both of Peru’s recent 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Venezuela and Uruguay over the international break.

Cueva, who is considered as one of Peru’s brightest talents, has scored five goals and provided seven assists in 39 appearances in all competitions for the Mexican top-flight outfit so far this season.

But with Toluca demanding at least a £15.7m transfer fee for his services this summer, Spurs would have to make Cueva the most expensive player in the history of Peruvian football, surpassing the current record which stands at £11.1m following Jefferson Farfan’s switch from PSV Eindhoven to Schalke.
