The Dane’s assist-heavy month nabbed him Shoot’s award as Spurs’ star man.

April was ultimately a disappointment for Tottenham, as the Premier League title slipped away, but Eriksen’s efforts cannot be criticised as he did all he could to tee up a serious challenge.

Setting up Harry Kane, at Liverpool, and Dele Alli, against Manchester United, for crucial goals at the start of the month, he then supplied an outstanding performance on a Monday night at Stoke City.

The centrepiece of his performance was a sensational, swirling ball over the top for Alli to score, and, though he should have earlier netted himself, the 24-year-old was influential in a destructive 4-0 romp.

Even as Spurs failed to beat West Bromwich Albion in a crucial clash at White Hart Lane, all-but gifting the title to Leicester City, Eriksen forced an own-goal from Craig Dawson to nudge the hosts into a first half lead.
