Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea is ahead of Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois on the Real Madrid wish-list, according to Spanish media outlet Don Balon.

Both keepers have once again proved their worth to their respective clubs this season with a string of impressive displays, with Belgium’s Courtois having kept 13 clean sheets and conceding just 25 goals en route to helping Antonio Conte’s men to the top of the Premier League.

However, it’s United’s De Gea, who was named as the goalkeeper in the PFA Team of the Year last week, who heads Madrid’s wish-list, with the European champions once again looking to land the striker after failing to do so back in 2015.

The 26-year-old has kept one fewer clean sheets but conceded three fewer goals than Courtois in the league this term, and after numerous excellent seasons between the sticks at Old Trafford which has seen him win their Player of the Year award for three successive years, it is he who Madrid want to replace current number one Keylor Navas.

It has been reported over the last few days that United are willing to allow De Gea a move to the Bernabeu this summer, but only if he gets defender Raphael Varane and striker Alvaro Morata, a target for Chelsea, in return.

Whether Real Madrid would welcome such a deal remains to be seen, but what is clear is that it is De Gea who they want ahead of Courtois this summer.
