Out-of-favour Man United captain, Wayne Rooney, is a target for struggling Serie A giants Inter Milan, according to reports from Italian outlet Calcio Mercato Web.

The report claims that rumours ‘collected exclusively by our editorial team’ reveal that the new Chinese owners at San Siro are considering an offer for the England skipper in June.

The 31-year-old has not started any of the last four of United’s games, coming off the bench in the first three and being left out of the squad for the trip to Chelsea due to an injury concern.

Add to this his manager, Jose Mourinho’s, admission that he can no longer guarantee the former Everton youngster a spot in the starting XI at Old Trafford and a move to Milan may begin to sound rather more attractive for England’s all-time top goalscorer.

The five time Premier League winner has scored a remarkable 248 goals in his 12 years at United, making over 500 appearances for the club.
