WHY BECKHAM SHOULD BE BOSS

WHY BECKHAM SHOULD BE BOSS

Friday, 02/07/2010

David Beckham should be the next boss of England – with Harry Redknapp and Stuart Pearce as his right hand men.

The former captain is English to the core. He already has inside knowledge about the game, how it is run and how to cope with pressure.

Beckham is one of the most high profile stars in the world – and knows how to deal with it.

He’s been public enemy No.1 – for being sent off against Argentina – but he knew just what he had to do to win back his supporters. Play well! Rock bottom to top of the tree takes some doing.

When the chips are down he always appears to find that bit extra – remember his goal against Greece at Old Trafford and how he took that game by the scruff of the neck?

Becks was managed by Fergie, so you can bet he learned a lot there. He survived and conquered with Real Madrid, one of the biggest football platforms in the world.

And then he took the plunge to play in America and got the Yanks interested in the real game of football.

Just when fans thought his England career was over he proved to them he still has what it takes. There’s been a huge welcoming reception when he has taken to the Wembley pitch as a sub in recent games. The fans love him.

The players admire him for his on the pitch abilities and how he copes with life away from the game. He has their respect. Officials rate him – that’s why he’s been one of the ambassadors trying to win the World Cup for England.

And we have seen at South Africa 2010 just how passionate he can be about the team – even dressed in an official suit.

Becks was born in East London, just like Redknapp. Harry could back him up with managerial experience and Pearce gives could give him similar support, but from an international platform.

Every English boss and coach would more than welcome a call from Beckham if he needed advice. He'd probably get a lot more co-operation at FA headquarters too.

No experience? Neither did Maradona when he took over Argentina or Dunga when he was appointed by Brazil.

Becks is currently a hero, I would hate to see that tarnished if he fails as a boss.

Got to agree, perhaps not immediately but certainly at some point in the not too distant future. He couldn’t be better for the role and Becks is exactly what we need in a manager, someone who played for the international side and is an Englishman through and through. I did hear recently that Pearce and Co may well get the sack to make way for a backroom team Capello is happier with… and who can understand what on earth he is saying.

I’d love to see Becks as manager and - even though he’s always said that he didn’t fancy management - I think he would relish the role!
He’d have the whole country behind him, that’s for sure.

He would be absulolutely amazing as England Manager, he is a great player and hopefully if he is chosen, will lead them to trophies and more trophies. It is good that he is an Englishman, so everyone will understand him

I don’t think Beckham would be a particularly good manager and if he did badly it would damage his reputation so I don’t think he should apply to become a manager.
