Becks’ smart move
Thursday, 19/01/2012
After the stampede of speculation, David Beckham has done what many people expected in the first place and stayed at LA Galaxy.
It's been quite clear all along that Mrs Posh loves the good old US of A and her new lifestyle. Becks looks as relaxed as ever in LA and his family appear settled too.
And being as smart as ever Becks has arranged that part of his deal will allow him to play for Team GB at the Olympics this year, if selected.
It will be a major surprise to many people if Beckham isn't in Stuart Pearce's team, once again wearing a Three Lions shirt.
Having played a part in the successful Olympic bid and done his bid to try and get the World Cup to England too, he deserves that chance.
And of course the global appeal of Brand Beckham will generate a lot more interest in England games both at home and abroad.
He may be 36, his career may be coming to an end, but there is no doubt that David Beckham has left his mark on football's history.
And wouldn't it be just fitting if he did a Thierry Henry and bent one into the back of the net at the Olympics? Preferably the winner in the final...
