Class is forever!

Class is forever!

Thierry Henry's Roy of the Rovers impression this week just proves what we all know: Form is temporary, class is permanent.

You just knew that once he took to the pitch the Frenchman would score. Loved it when he said he thought someone would pinch him and he would wake up and he would realise it had all been a dream.

The day after the victory over Leeds, I saw Henry in his London hotel just going about his business as normal, many of the suits totally unaware that a real live Legend had just brushed by them!

The day before, Paul Scholes, 37, had also shocked the world of football by coming on from Manchester United in the FA Cup clash with City.

His contribution might not have been as great at Henry's for Arsenal, but there were still some deft touches. Just wait for those crunching tackles and bullet shots...

So, the question now is... who is next to dust down their boots and shock us? Please, whoever is out there thinking about it, take your time!

As much as I and many other fans would just love to see the likes of Bergkamp, Shearer, Neville, Schemeichel and a few other ex-players on the pitch, let's be realistic and admit they are never, ever going to be like they used to be. And remember, at the age of 34 Henry is far from past it! Beckham is still strutting his stuff at 36, Ryan Giggs is 38... and Teddy Sheringham was still playing just short of his 41st birthday.

Oh and if you didn't spot it today, manager David Moyes, 48, reckons he will play at centre half for Everton this week because of their injury crisis. He was joking. We think...
