Rooney on a goal roll

Rooney on a goal roll

Thursday, 11/03/2010

We are in grave danger of running out of words that can truly describe the current form of England striker Wayne Rooney.

There can’t be many fans anywhere who haven’t admired Man United’s Merseyside-born marvel. His two goals against AC Milan were more icing on the cake – his total reaching 30 so far for the season.

Now the whole planet knows just what a great player the Roonster is and how he just appears to keep on improving.

There’s a lot of talk about Messi, Kaka, Ronaldo and the like being the megastars at the World Cup finals.

Add to that list – or maybe put to the top of that list – Wayne Rooney!

Since the birth of his son a few months ago the Roonster appears to have improved form even more – shame Coleen can’t get pregnant again before South Africa 2010! What sort of new levels could he hit then?

There has been no shortage of praise from his club and international team-mates, rival managers and opposition players.

But let’s hear a few words too for Sir Alex Ferguson. Remember that Fergie forked out almost £30m for a very young player – the fee being pushed up as Newcastle allegedly put money on the table to Everton too.

The signs were there of a blossoming talent but Rooney was still a very raw talent. Fergie has nurtured that talent, developed it – as he usually does – and created yet another world-class star.

Oh, and in case you have forgotten – Rooney isn’t 25 until October, and yet to reach his peak!
