West Ham picked up their third Premier League victory in four matches after coming from behind to beat Southampton 3-1 at St Mary’s.

Slaven Bilic’s men have significantly improved in the last few months, but fell behind early on the South Coast as Manolo Gabbiadini fired home just 12 minutes into his Saints debut.

However, the Hammers hit back immediately through Andy Carroll, before goals either side of half time from Pedro Obiang and Mark Noble secured the visitors a ninth league win of the campaign, and sixth in their last nine matches.

It means that Bilic’s men are up to ninth in the table, and will set their sights on trying to replicate last season’s seventh place finish, which was their best since their return to the top-flight in 2012.

Although the gap between themselves and seventh place Everton is nine points, West Ham have been in fine form of late, and could certainly bridge that gap and potentially go on and get a European spot come May.

They’ve got the players to do it, so here are TWO that must start every game between now and May in a bid to get into Europe…

Michail Antonio

He arguably been West Ham’s player of the season so far, and Michail Antonio is continuing to prove his worth to manager Bilic.

The 26-year-old has scored eight goals and laid on three assists in 23 Premier League starts so far, which makes him the club’s top-scorer this season, as well as the man who has directly contributed to the most goals this term (11), with the recently-sold Dimitri Payet second with eight.

It’s also his verstality which makes him a great asset to Bilic, as the Englishman can play either as a forward or winger, as well as a right-back and a wing-back.

Clearly, there will always be room for Antonio in the side, so if he can keep up his good form, then he’ll continue to be a regular for the rest of the season and beyond.

Andy Carroll

West Ham were seriously struggling for goals earlier on this season, but Andy Carroll’s return from injury has seen their points tally and goal-count significantly improve.

Prior to his return against Arsenal on December 3, Bilic’s men had managed just 14 Premier League goals, and were languishing in 16th place in the division, just a point clear of danger.

However, just two months later, the Hammers have scored 32 league goals and are ninth in the table, with Carroll having scored six and had a massive influence on the side.

The England international gives them an excellent option upfront such is his unrivalled aerial prowess, and with the likes of Michail Antonio, Manuel Lanzini, and Robert Snodgrass all behind him, Carroll is going to get ample chances to add to his tally over the coming weeks.

Keeping him fit will be the toughest test for Bilic, but if the striker can stay injury-free between now and May, West Ham could get themselves into European contention.
