Arsenal are looking to end a 12-year wait for the Premier League title this season, and they’ve made a start which suggests that they could go all the way time around.

Arsene Wenger’s side are level on points with leaders Manchester City after seven game unbeaten run in the Premier League, which included an impressive 3-0 victory over Chelsea last month.

This run came after a sluggish first few weeks, in which they lost 4-3 to Liverpool and then drew 0-0 at champions Leicester. Nevertheless, the draw against Middlesbrough on Saturday, albeit a frustrating afternoon for the Gunners, sent them top, only to be dislodged by City the day after.

Wenger’s men have also made a great start to their Champions League campaign. They picked up a valuable point at Paris Saint-Germain in their first game, and have since beaten Basel and Ludogorets to sit level on points with the French champions at the top of Group A.

However, speculation has already been building about who Wenger could look to sign in January to reinforce his squad for the second half of the season, so here are TWO players Arsenal fans can get excited about in January…

Kostas Manolas

With the future surrounding club captain Per Mertesacker far from certain, there’s a good chance that Wenger will look to strengthen his defensive options at the Emirates.

Although Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi have developed a strong partnership at the back, the Gunners have been linked with Roma’s highly-rated centre-back Kostas Manolas.

The Greek international cost the Italian side over £10 million in 2014, and Manolas has shown to be worth a lot more than that now after numerous excellent performances at the back.

However, Manolas has reportedly yet to sign a new and improved deal at Roma and, although his current one doesn’t run out until 2019, some clubs may seize the initiative and get a deal done soon for the centre-back.

A defender who is strong, authoritative, and deceptively quick, the 25-year-old would definitely bolster Arsenal’s defensive options.

Isco

Real Madrid midfielder Isco looks set to leave the Bernabeu within the next year or so, having fallen down the pecking order at the European champions.

The Spanish international started just 21 La Liga games last season, and has been repeatedly linked with a move away since his first team appearances reduced in the Spanish capital.

Arsenal are one of those clubs interested in the 24-year-old, although Wenger could face fierce competition from Manchester City and North London rivals Tottenham to secure his signature.

It would be a major coup for Arsenal if they can get a deal done over January, as Isco is a quality player who would get into a number of Premier League sides.
