Jurgen Klopp’s first full season in charge of Liverpool has been met with renewed optimism around Anfield, and the players have so far fulfilled those expectations.

The Reds are level on points with Premier League leaders Manchester City courtesy of a 2-1 win over West Brom at Anfield on Saturday, their sixth league win of the season.

Klopp’s side have also recorded impressive victories at Arsenal and at Chelsea in the first few months of the season, with their only blot coming in a 2-0 away defeat at Burnley.

No European commitments is sure to help Liverpool in their bid to get back into the top four, while many believe that Klopp’s side can actually go all the way and win the title.

The Reds host another high-flyer in Tottenham on Tuesday evening in the League Cup, as Klopp looks to lead his side to a third Cup final in just 12 months in charge at Anfield.

Nevertheless, speculation is already building around who the former Borussia Dortmund boss could bring in to strengthen his Liverpool squad so they can sustain a title challenge right through to the end of the season.

Here are TWO players Liverpool fans should get excited about in January…

Geoffrey Kondogbia

A versatile and highly-rated youngster, Inter Milan’s Geoffrey Kondogbia is attracting interest from Liverpool.

The 23-year-old was criticised by manager Frank de Boer earlier in the season, and was dragged off before the half hour mark against Bologna last month.

He appeared for the first time since then in Inter’s 2-1 defeat at Atalanta on Saturday, which has raised question marks about his future at the San Siro.

His agent has said that there are several parties interested in the French international, and Klopp’s Liverpool may well head the queue going into January.

It is definitely a potential transfer worth keeping an eye on over the next few months.

Lorenzo Insigne

It looks like Lorenzo Insigne’s seven-year spell at Napoli could be coming to an end at some stage this season.

The 25-year-old midfielder is reportedly unhappy that the Italian side are not going to offer him an improved deal in line with some of the other top-earners in Naples.

The Italian international was then mocked by his own supporters when he missed a penalty in their Champions League defeat to Besiktas last week, and looks as if he wants out of the club as soon as possible.

Unsurprisingly, Liverpool have kept an eye on proceedings and now look in pole position to land the striker, who netted 13 times for Napoli last season, in the January window.

Insigne can play anywhere across the front three, and would certainly bolster Klopp’s array of attacking options at Anfield.
