2 targets Tottenham fans should get excited about in January

Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham have made a solid start to the Premier League season, as they look to improve on last year’s third place finish.

Spurs have won five of their opening nine league games and drawn the other four, meaning that they are the only unbeaten side left in the Premier League.

Pochettino’s men recorded an impressive 2-0 win over Manchester City a few weeks ago and, although they haven’t won in the league since then, they sit fifth and find themselves just a point adrift of Pep Guardiola’s side.

Spurs have also embarked on their first Champions League campaign since 2011, and picked up an important point away at Bayer Leverkusen last week, adding to their 1-0 win at CSKA Moscow in the gameweek previous.

Unsurprisingly, there has been a lot of speculation surrounding who Pochettino may look to sign when the transfer window reopens in the New Year, as he looks to maintain Spurs’ title challenge in the second half of the season.

Here are TWO players Spurs fans should get excited about in January…

Isco

Spanish international Isco looks set to leave European champions Real Madrid in the near future, as his playing time at the Spanish giants begins to dwindle.

The 24-year-old has made just seven appearances for Zinedine Zidane’s side so far this season, although has started their last three La Liga games, and netted a brace in their 6-1 thrashing of Real Betis last week.

Nevertheless, it looks like Isco’s future is away from the Bernabeu, with Tottenham joined in the race by Premier League rivals Manchester City and Arsenal.

Although Spurs are well-stocked in the attacking midfield department, Isco’s qualities would certainly add and perhaps usurp that, so Pochettino could look to make a move in January if the 24-year-old falls out of favour again at Madrid.

Razvan Marin

A potential transfer that has only come to light in recent days, but it’s one that could seriously benefit Tottenham if they stave off interest from Napoli and PSV Eindhoven.

Razvan Marin is a Romanian international who plays for top-flight side Viitorul Constanta in his native country, and is very highly-rated in Romania.

The 20-year-old midfielder has already played 65 times for the Romanian outfit, and netted in their win over Astra Giurgiu a few weeks ago.

Pochettino has always been a manager willing to give young players a chance and, based on his success rate at both Southampton and Tottenham, Marin could be another that benefits from working under the 44-year-old.
