Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City will hope to bounce back from their disappointing 3-1 defeat at home to Chelsea last weekend when they host Celtic in the Champions League on Tuesday.

City took the lead against the Premier League leaders at the Etihad on Saturday, but goals from Diego Costa, Willian, and Eden Hazard sealed the three points for the visitors as City unravelled in the second period.

Guardiola saw his side lose their discipline late on, with Sergio Aguero and Fernandinho both sent for the hosts as a bad day got a whole lot worse in the final few minutes.

Nonetheless, they will go into Tuesday’s game knowing that, regardless of the result, they are in the last 16 of the Champions League, but would love to build some momentum for both their league and European campaigns by beating Brendan Rodgers’ side.

Celtic will finish bottom no matter what the result is on Tuesday night, but Rodgers will also be hoping that his side finish their frustrating campaign with a positive result.

The Bhoys go into this one having won their last eight Scottish Premiership games, a run which has seen them open up an eight-point lead at the top of the division.

However, Tuesday night will be a much tougher test for the Scottish champions, with City comprising of a squad talented enough to fight for the Premier League title.

Thus, here are THREE City players who’d get into the Celtic side…

Ilkay Gundogan

Manchester City have a wealth of talent across every area of the pitch, but it’s their attacking talent which really outdoes Celtic.

And Ilkay Gundogan is one of those that would benefit any side in the country.

Although he didn’t have his best game against Chelsea on Saturday, the German international has proven in his first few months at the Etihad how crucial he is to their midfield play, and has netted a few important goals in the last month or so.

A midfielder that can do almost everything, Gundogan will be a pivotal part of what City achieve this season.

Kevin De Bruyne

His missed sitter against Chelsea aside, Kevin De Bruyne has been brilliant since his move back to England last year.

The Belgian international left Chelsea in 2013 after struggling to break into the first team, but set about proving what a class player he is during his spell at Wolfsburg, where he scored 20 times in 72 games for the German side.

This made City splash out £55 million on the 25-year-old, who went on to score 16 goals in his first season at the Etihad.

His directness, creativity, and intelligence in the final third is a joy to watch, and will cause Celtic no end of problems should he play on Tuesday.

Sergio Aguero

Sergio Aguero was far from his best against Chelsea on Saturday, and was rightly sent off for a horrific challenge on David Luiz near the end.

However, he’s still a world-class forward, who will guarantee you 20 plus goals a season.

The Argentine has netted 112 times in the Premier League since moving to Manchester City in 2011, and has added a further 40 in other competitions as City try to establish themselves on the European stage.

Aguero already has 16 goals this season for Guardiola’s men, and his impending suspension in the league could mean that he gets more minutes on Tuesday night.

Any side in the country would benefit from the 28-year-old’s services, and Celtic would be no different.
