3 Players Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp could sign after thrilling opening victory against Leeds United

Klopp has never hidden his admiration for Thiago.

Liverpool kicked off their Premier League title defence with an enthralling 4-3 win over newly-promoted Leeds United at Anfield.

Mohamed Salah was the star of the show once more with a match-winning hat-trick which included two well taken penalties and a stunning half volley.

After winning their first top-flight title in 30 years last term, the Reds are aiming to keep hold of their crown but, with the teams behind them having strengthened, they will be expecting a tough test.

Salah was the hat-trick hero on opening weekend.

Jurgen Klopp has only brought in one new face so far this summer with the arrival of Greek left-back Konstantinos Tsimikas from Olympiacos.

Despite an opening day win, the German boss might think his squad needs more fresh faces after being run close by Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

But who could possibly make the move to the champions? Here’s three players who have been linked with Liverpool in recent days…

Giovanni Reyna

According to The Mirror, Klopp is eyeing a potential raid on former club Borussia Dortmund for the signing of their wonderkid Giovanni Reyna. The 17-year-old has already made 18 first-team appearances for the Bundesliga side and is being touted to go all the way to the top. It’s claimed that Klopp is a big fan of the American, who is the son of former Rangers, Sunderland and Man City midfielder, Claudio Reyna, and that he has an eye on making a future move for the attacking midfielder.

Ismaila Sarr

Football Insider understand that the Reds are looking to add to their fearsome frontline by signing Ismaila Sarr from Championship side Watford. The 22-year-old registered five goals and four assists in the Premier League for the relegated Hornets last term, two of which came in the 3-0 win over Liverpool in March. It’s reported that the champions have Sarr on their shortlist but – despite holding ‘early talks’ – are not prepared to meet the forward’s £40million asking price and will wait it out until January to try and bring the Senegal international to Anfield.

Marcelo Pitaluga

The Liverpool Echo report that Klopp is close to agreeing a deal to sign Fluminense goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga. The 17-year-old, who was part of the Brazil squad to win the Under-17 World Cup in 2019, is thought to be one of the best young stoppers in world football. It’s claimed that the Reds will pay an initial £1million for the teenager with a possible further £800,000 in add-ons. Pitaluga will be aiming to emulate what fellow countryman Alisson has achieved for Liverpool and Brazil.
