3 players Manchester United could try to sign in January after Champions League exit

Manchester United crashed out of the Champions League at the group stage after a 3-2 defeat against RB Leipzig on Tuesday.

The Red Devils were 2-0 down in 12 minutes and 3-0 behind with 21 minutes to play before nearly pulling off a late comeback.

However, despite defeating PSG away and thrashing Leipzig at home 5-0 in the first two matchdays, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team will have to make do with Europa League football for the rest of the season.

It was a disappointing night for United.

The result has again put the spotlight on the Norwegian boss whose side have performed on a very inconsistent basis this term.

Elimination from Europe’s elite competition will have Solskjaer looking even closer at which players he could possibly bring in during the January transfer window.

But in what is notoriously a very difficult month to sign players, who could potentially move to Old Trafford at the start of 2021?

Here’s three players who have been linked with a transfer to Manchester United in recent days…

Paulo Dybala

Following comments from Paul Pogba’s claiming that the French star is unhappy at Old Trafford,  The Athletic report that Juventus are lining up a swoop to re-sign the midfielder. On top of that, it’s claimed that the Serie A champions are also willing to include Argentine attacker Paulo Dybala in a swap deal. Pogba initially signed for Juventus from United in 2012 before returning to the Red Devils in 2016. However, with his contract up in the summer, it looks as though his second-spell could be coming to an end. It’s claimed that Juve boss Andrea Pirlo would like Pogba in his revamped midfield and is willing to let Dybala, who has struggled to start on a regular basis this term, move in the opposite direction.

Eduardo Camavinga

Sticking with Pogba and Spanish outlet AS report that Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane is still keen on signing his fellow countryman. It’s claimed that if the Frenchman does depart for the Bernabeu then the Red Devils are lining up Eduardo Camavinga as a replacement. The 18-year-old has been sensational for Rennes since making his senior debut in 2019, helping the club qualify for the Champions League for the first time this term. As well as that, the talented teenager also became France’s youngest senior international since 1914 when he made his debut against Croatia in September. Camavinga would not come cheap though with the report stating he is worth around £63.5million.
