3 Premier League managers who should fear the sack

Surprisingly, there has only been three Premier League managerial casualties so far this campaign; compared to the five at this same stage last season.

It seems that Premier League chairmans are growing increasingly impatient with their employers, just look at the Swansea City hierarchy.

Two of the three sackings this season have come from the Welsh club (Francesco Guidolin and Bob Bradley) both coming within the space of three months.

This is after the Swans had sacked Gary Monk just last term, many now believing that to be a mistake.

Thanks to Steve Parish (Crystal Palace) and Huw Jenkins (Swansea), we have been treated to two Premier League managerial casualties within five days, given Alan Pardew’s exit at The Eagles, presenting the perfect opportunity for Shoot! to review the possible candidates who will be next in the firing line…

Slaven Bilic

Despite being on a good run of form as of late, Slaven Bilic and West Ham United made an awful start to the season.

Before winning three of their last top-flight games, the Hammers were floating around the bottom three with an awful goal difference.

It seems that this season is a huge disappointment for West Ham compared to last term as it seems they can only beat the teams around/below them.

That is acceptable if your ambition is to avoid the drop, but after last season, the Hammers will be looking for European football again.

Claudio Ranieri

As we all know, Ranieri led Leicester City to a footballing miracle last season, but is now experiencing a very contrasting campaign in the Premier League.

Even though Leicester topped their Champions League group, they will face Sevilla in the last-16 and aren’t expected to come out on top.

They currently sit 15th in the Premier League, six points above the relegation zone.

They have only managed two wins in their last ten which has left fans, and possibly the chairman asking questions.

It would seem very unfair to sack the man who performed miracles and completed one of the most impressive football achievements of all-time, but this is football. Anything can happen!

Mike Phelan

After Steve Bruce’s surprise departure, Mike Phelan took over as the Tigers boss and led them to two victories in his first two games in charge – 2-1 win over Leicester City and a 2-0 win away to Swansea City.

Unfortunately for Phelan and Hull, it all went downhill from there. They then went on to go nine games without a win, including 5-1 and 6-1 losses to Liverpool and AFC Bournemouth respectively.

Their third win of the season came against Southampton on November 6 and they haven’t won a league game since.

The Tigers now sit second-bottom of the table having accumulated 13 points from a possible 57.

Combining that statistic with their minus 25 goal difference, the worst in the league, Phelan is favourite for the sack and Hull are edging towards an instant return to the Championship.
