Arsenal travel to Ludogorets this evening looking for a third straight win in the Champions League, a result which could see them qualify for the knock-out stages.

The Gunners have already swept aside their Bulgarian opponents in this season’s competition, beating them 6-0 at the Emirates last month, and know a win could see them through to the last 16 if Basel fail to beat Paris Saint-Germain in the other Group A fixture.

Arsene Wenger’s side are one of the form teams in Europe so far this season, and are unbeaten in their last 14 games in all competitions dating back to their 4-3 defeat to Liverpool on the opening weekend of the season.

They have won seven of the opening ten Premier League matches, and find themselves second in the table behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, albeit only on goal difference.

Arsenal’s excellent start to the season, which has also seen them reach the quarter-finals of the League Cup, has got many fans thinking about both a title challenge and a shot at the Champions League.

Thus, here are THREE reasons why Wenger’s men can go all the way and win Europe’s elite competition…

Defensively more solid

One of the biggest weaknesses Arsenal have had in Europe in recent seasons is leaking goals against the best sides.

They have been knocked out in the last 16 for the past six seasons, and have conceded 22 goals in those last 16 ties. This may not seem like too many but that’s almost two goals a game and, when you’re playing the best sides, you’ve got to be better at the back.

However, Arsenal have looked much defensively so far this season. They have only conceded ten goals in ten Premier League games, and have conceded just one in Europe so far.

Petr Cech has been in great form, and the partnership between Laurent Koscielny and Skhodran Mustafi is developing into an excellent one.

If they can stay fit and continue their great work, it could be a platform for Wenger’s side to go on and finally win the Champions League.

They all on course to win the group

Arsenal fans know all too well how important it is to win your Champions League group, and they are on course to do just that.

They haven’t won their group since the 2011/12 campaign, and since then have faced Bayern Munich (twice), Monaco and Barcelona in the last 16, losing every time.

However, the Gunners top Group A after three matches, which includes a 1-1 draw away at Paris Saint-Germain and, although they’ve got two away games at Ludogorets and Basel coming up, they will fancy their chances of securing top spot.

The home game against PSG could be the crucial one on November 23, but Arsenal proved by getting a draw in the French capital that they can match their opponents.

Not only that but, to win the Champions League, you need to beat the likes of PSG, who are more than capable of getting to the latter stages of the competition.

Confidence is high after great start

Arsenal are playing with the confidence and freedom of a side that, on their day, can beat anyone.

In Alexis Sanchez, they have one of the most in-form players in the Premier League, and Mesut Ozil and Theo Walcott have also started the season well. These three already have 20 goals between them in all competitions this season.

It’s imperative that they keep this great form going.

Injuries will once again be key in Arsenal’s pursuit of silverware this season but, if they can keep their best players fit, they can be a match for any side in Europe.
