Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino could reportedly be targeting a stunning January move for Spanish playmaker Isco.

The North London side have struggled to find the net in recent weeks and the creativity of the mercurial Spaniard could reap serious rewards for Spurs, who currently have the meanest defence in England having conceded a measly 8 Premier League goals so far this season.

Isco has 18 months remaining on his current deal with Madrid and recent reports suggest that the 24-year-old may be looking for a way out this January.

The Spain international has supposedly grown frustrated over limited minutes at the Bernabeu, both this season and in the previous campaign, having only started eight of a possible 17 games this term.

Isco’s goal for his country in last week’s 2-2 draw at Wembley shows the quality he can bring to a team. This was a timely reminder to interested English clubs of what he can do as the January transfer window looms large.

However, Isco’s situation has also attracted interest from a host of other clubs. Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United are believed to have a strong interest, a consequence of the poor form of Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney this season.

With Isco’s long-term future very much up in the air, here are THREE reasons why he should choose Tottenham over the Red Devils…

Become a leader of a young side

Tottenham had the youngest average age starting XI in the Premier League last season and are a side that is maturing with each game.

At 24-years-of-age Isco fits in well with this demographic but having played regular top division football with Malaga from the age of 19 he’s been around for some time now.

Add to this his 46 appearances in European competitions and you begin to see that for someone still yet to hit his peak the Spaniard has vast experience that could be of great benefit to a developing Tottenham side.

Isco could flourish in a way not seen before if given the responsibility to be the go-to man when his team needs him.

Poch is famed for getting the best out of players

There’s no doubt that Mauricio Pochettino knows how to get the best out of a player. The meteoric rise of Harry Kane is an obvious example but there are many more; Nathaniel Clyne, Rickie Lambert, Adam Lallana, Morgan Schneiderlin, Danny Rose, Kyle Walker and Erik Lamela are just some of the success stories of the Argentine’s spell in England to date.

Pochettino’s methods are admired throughout the game and its clear players are rewarded if they buy into them.

If Isco arrives at White Hart Lane with the right attitude this January who is to say Pochettino can’t transform him into one of the league’s top playmakers.

With the 2018 World Cup in Russia on the horizon, Isco will no doubt have his eye on securing a starting place with La Roja for the tournament

The 24-year-old is likely to be the main creative force in a side that has struggled to find the back of the net so far this term.

If Isco changes Tottenham’s fortunes in front of goal and racks up the assists for The Lilywhites, it could force Spain coach Julen Lopetegui’s hand in selecting the playmaker from the start more regularly at international level.
