3 reasons Isco should pick Tottenham over Manchester United

27 November 2013 - UEFA Champions League - Real Madrid v Galatasaray - Isco of Madrid celebrates scoring his goal.

Real Madrid playmaker Isco is reportedly unhappy at the Bernabeu, with his lack of regular first team football likely the reason for his frustration.

The 24-year-old was brought to the Spanish capital by then-manager Manuel Pellegrini in 2013, who worked with the young midfielder during his highly successful spell at Malaga.

Isco has made 101 La Liga appearances in three years with Los Blancos, netting 15 times, eight of which came in his first season at the club.

However, he has fallen down the pecking order under Zinedine Zidane, and may consider his future at the club amid interest from Tottenham and Manchester United.

Both teams appear keen to get a deal over the line for the 24-year-old, but here are THREE reasons why he should choose Spurs over United…

Versatility

Isco has the ability to play in the number 10, out wide, or even in the holding role, such is his incredible versatility. He was mainly the former at Malaga, although played slightly deeper at Madrid.

He is excellent at dribbling and has a great eye for a pass and, given he is better going forward than he is defensively, this could really complement the more industrious Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier in the holding role, who are more likely to break up play and opposition attacks.

Also, he is hugely creative and has the ability to thread passes through opposition defences, so could find himself in one of the three positions behind front man Harry Kane.

He scored 14 times for Malaga in a similar position, but Mauricio Pochettino could put him anywhere in the Spurs side and get a great team player.

Style of play

Pochettino’s attacking brand of football at White Hart Lane is sure to bring the best out of Isco, regardless of what midfield position he plays.

Arguably, he is technically more gifted than the other attacking midfield options at the club, and he could really complement Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli in the advanced areas.

Isco is always looking to get the ball forward and set up attacks, be it from wide areas or through the middle, and his skill and agility could seriously strengthen Spurs’ title challenge.

Could be an icon

Tottenham Hotspur the football club is growing.

They are back in the Champions League, and are now challenging for the Premier League title – two things that haven’t happened for many a year.

They also have a great manager, and are redeveloping White Hart Lane to house more than 60,000 fans.

You get the sense that Spurs are only heading in one direction – up.

Isco could be a part, maybe even a significant part, of Spurs’ development over the next few years.

He’s a player who is plenty good enough to come in and take the Premier League by storm, and to do that at a Tottenham with a clear vision would persuade many a player to sign for Spurs.
