3 reasons why Tottenham will beat Everton in the Premier League this afternoon

Tottenham host in-form Everton this afternoon (1.30pm kick-off) hoping to maintain their fine home record in the Premier League.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men have won 11 of their 13 league matches at White Hart Lane this term, including their last eight on the spin, and they’ll be full of confidence ahead of the visit of Ronald Koeman’s men this afternoon.

Spurs are second in the division, ten points behind leaders Chelsea, but with the Blues not in action until Monday night at West Ham, the North London outfit have a real chance of piling the pressure on Antonio Conte’s men with victory later on today.

However, it won’t be easy against Koeman’s men, who have significantly improved since their 1-0 defeat to neighbours Liverpool back on December 19 by winning six of their nine Premier League games since then, and drawing the other three.

Their 2-0 success over struggling Sunderland last time out was their 12th of the campaign, and having gone unbeaten in their last five away league matches, the Toffees will be confident of getting a vital away win this afternoon.

Nonetheless, Pochettino’s Spurs go in as favourites ahead of today’s encounter, and here are THREE reasons why they will pick up the three points at White Hart Lane this afternoon…

Unbeaten home record this season

Tottenham possess the only unbeaten home record in the Premier League this season, and they’ll look to maintain that against Everton this afternoon.

Pochettino’s men have won 11 of their 13 matches at White Hart Lane, drawing the other two against Liverpool and Leicester, with the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea coming unstuck in North London this term.

Their struggles at Wembley in Europe this season highlights how much they love playing at White Hart Lane, regardless of who they’re playing against, so it’s difficult to look past a Spurs victory this afternoon.

In-form Kane can’t stop scoring

Three hat-tricks in nine games, Premier League’s joint top-scorer with 17 goals – Harry Kane is once again in sparkling form for Tottenham.

The England striker netted an excellent trio in the 4-0 thumping of Stoke City last time out, adding to his hat-trick at Fulham in the FA Cup fifth round, as well as the three he bagged against West Brom on January 14.

The 23-year-old netted the crucial goal to beat Middlesbrough 1-0 in February, and with two assists as well since the turn of the year, it’s difficult to keep him out of the action.

Everton have been much better defensively since the turn of the year, yet they’ll have their work cut out against one of the most in-form strikers in Europe this afternoon.

Chance to put pressure on Chelsea

This is a massive game for Tottenham, as victory would put some pressure on Chelsea ahead of their clash at West Ham on Monday night.

Pochettino’s men currently trail Antonio Conte’s men by ten points with just 12 games to go, but with a potentially tricky game coming up for the Blues at the London Stadium on Monday, this afternoon provides the North London side with a real chance to put pressure on the league leaders.

Chelsea face Manchester City and Manchester United in their next six Premier League games, so if Spurs can get the three points this afternoon, it would certainly keep the Blues looking over their shoulder over the coming weeks.
