3 Southampton players who could follow Victor Wanyama to Spurs in January

Tottenham are once again showing form which could see them challenge for the Premier League title this season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men are the only side still unbeaten in the Premier League, having won five and drawn three of their opening eight games.

Their victory over leaders Manchester City prior to the international break was the most impressive of the season so far, and although they didn’t get the three points at West Bromwich Albion on Saturday, Pochettino’s side remain just a point behind Pep Guardiola’s side.

One summer signing who has made his mark on this Tottenham side is Victor Wanyama, who joined from Southampton. He has slotted effortlessly into the centre of midfield at White Hart Lane, and his solidarity in that area has allowed the likes of Son Heung-min, Dele Alli, and Christian Eriksen to get forward and create opportunities.

Wanyama’s £11 million move to Spurs could influence other Saints player to make the move to North London, so here are THREE that could join him at Spurs in January…

Dusan Tadic

Dusan Tadic has impressed ever since he made the move to the South Coast in 2014, and he’s beginning to turn into an integral player in the Southampton starting eleven.

With the departures of Sadio Mane and Graziano Pelle in the summer, there is an even greater emphasis on Tadic to both create goal-scoring opportunities, as well as score a few himself.

His goal against West Ham last month was his first and only strike of the season, but he’s beginning to find his feet in Claude Puel’s system, which differs to the one used by Ronald Koeman last year.

Nevertheless, the Serbian international has shown to be a talented and creative attacker in English football and, although he signed a new contract in the summer, he could be tempted if Spurs come calling.

Nathan Redmond

Nathan Redmond is another player who has flourished from the trust placed in him by new boss Puel.

The England Under-21 international is playing in a more advanced role in the Saints eleven, and they are reaping the rewards from such a decision, with Redmond instrumental in helping the Saints beat Burnley on Sunday.

He has been impressive since his move from Norwich City in the summer, and if he continues his good form for Southampton, then there will be plenty of clubs interested in his services.

Charlie Austin

If Tottenham want someone to rely upon if and when Harry Kane gets injured, then Charlie Austin could be that man.

The former Burnley and QPR striker has scored goals at every level he has played at, and the Saints are beginning to see the Austin they thought they signed in January having scored seven goals in his last six matches.

He has constantly had to overcome injury issues but, when he’s fit, he is as deadly in front of goal as any forward in the division.

The 27-year-old would certainly strengthen Pochettino’s offensive options at White Hart Lane.
