Saturday brings the first clash of Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola on English soil, in perhaps the biggest fixture of this Premier League calendar, the Manchester derby.
Man United are playing hosts to Guardiola and his Man City side in what could prove to be a crucial game come the end of the season.
The two clubs are virtually inseparable in terms of title favourites, with the Red Devils having had a transfer widow of which dreams are made of, whilst their neighbours have appointed the most sought after manager in world football.
Both sides are looking like a real force this season and will more than likely be battling over top spot for the entire season, but how good could they be combined?
The managerial heavyweights both have squads that are the envy of the world at their disposal, a best XI for either outfit is a challenge to define, but how about the best XI from both sides of Manchester?
The decision is an agonising one, but Shoot! have saved you the trouble, take a look at the quite incredible Man United and Man City combined 2016/17 XI…
GK: David De Gea
There really is no debate here, with all the goalkeeping upheaval at The Eithad the Spaniard is the obvious choice to be the man between the sticks in this stellar XI.
Even if Guardiola kept with Joe Hart as his No. 1, De Gea would retain his spot in this side. The 25-year-old is one of the best in the business and has come one leaps and bounds since he arrived in Manchester.
RB: Antonio Valencia
The 31-year-old has enjoyed somewhat of a renaissance as a wing-back at Old Trafford after his days had seemed numbered as a winger.
The former Wigan man has made a superb start to the season under Mourinho and shows no signs of stopping. Whilst his City counterpart, Pablo Zabaleta would not have looked out of place in this side, the Ecuador international just takes it.
CB: Vincent Kompany
The Belgian international has been a stalwart of Man City’s successes over the last few years, and despite not being fully fit just yet should still have a huge role to play this season.
The former Anderlecht man is, on his day, one of the best defenders in the Premier League and has the ability to inspire those around him and lead his side to glory, a crucial member of this combined XI, and Shoot’s captain.
CB: Eric Bailly
The latest edition to the back line at Old Trafford has impressed on all fronts since making the move to the Premier League from La Liga side, Villarreal.
Alongside his Sky Blue counterpart, Kompany, the 22-year-old will flourish in the back line of the combined XI and allow those ahead of him the freedom to go and terrorise opposition defences throughout the Premier League.
LB: Luke Shaw
The former Southampton man was in incredible form early last season before his terrible leg break caused him to miss the rest of the campaign.
The 21-year-old is showing signs of returning to such levels and looks well on his way to realising his potential and becoming one of the best full-backs in world football.
DM: Ilkay Gundogan
The German international was one of Guardiola’s key targets over the summer, and despite a poor injury history the former Barcelona boss got his man.
The former Borussia Dortmund man is on the verge of returning to full fitness and would be a lynchpin in this combined XI, with great defensive awareness and brilliant passing ability, the 25-year-old can bring great confidence to the midfield, and is the perfect anchor for the diamond.
CM: David Silva
The Spanish international has been one of the stars of the show at The Etihad since their rise to success, after the money came in, and can still play that influential role today.
His creative spark and ability to beat a man means that on any day the 30-year-old can come from nowhere to change a game, regardless of how those around him are playing.
CM: Paul Pogba
Joining David Silva in the middle of the diamond, of course it had to be Paul Pogba, the most expensive footballer on the planet.
The 23-year-old’s physicality will complement the Spanish international’s technicality alongside him, which will make them a midfield duo to be reckoned with, scoring some spectacular goals along the way.
AM: Kevin De Bruyne
The Belgian playmaker was instrumental when the Sky Blues were on form last season and can come up with the goods from any situation he might find himself in.
There isn’t a better player in either Manchester squad to link the defence and midfield with the strikers ahead of them, and the 25-year-old isn’t afraid to chip in with a few goals a long the way.
ST: Sergio Aguero
The striker is in an unfamiliar place at the moment, sidelined due to his disciplinary ban after elbowing West Ham’s Winston Reid before the international break.
However, the Argentina international is one of the best forwards in world football, let alone the Premier League, and there is no reality in which he would not feature in this side, but just who will he be leading the line with?
ST: Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Who else to play alongside the Premier League’s best striker than one of Europe’s most decorated? Man United’s new summer signing has proved all of his critics wrong upon his arrival in Manchester and is all that the Red Devils’ fans anticipated.
With the service from the likes of Valencia and Shaw from the flanks and the awe inspiring attacking talent behind him, there is no doubt the Swede would bag plenty of goals for the combined XI.
Manager: Jose Mourinho
This was the toughest call of them all, whilst both Guardiola and Mourinho would do wonders with this side, in the end it had to be the former Chelsea man.
The Portuguese has plenty of Premier League experience on his side, which is a big advantage when appointing a manager. Furthermore, where he has been successful it has often been with one core group of extremely talented players, as opposed to developing or regenerating a side.
With that in mind, the former Real Madrid boss is the perfect man to take the reigns of such a star studded team and take the world by storm.
