5 players you must buy for Arsenal on FIFA 17

FIFA 17 is almost upon us! The award winning gaming series’ latest instalment is out on September 29.

So ahead of EA Sports’ latest release of the world renowned football video game, SHOOT takes a look at which players Arsenal fans should be looking to snap up inside the opening summer transfer window in career mode.

With the North Londoners celebrating Arsene Wenger’s 20th anniversary this weekend, Gunners fans could look to sign some world-class players to make sure the 2016/17 campaign really is a special year at the Emirates Stadium.

Having already wrapped up the likes of Granit Xhaka, Takuma Asano, Rob Holding, Kelechi Nwakali, Lucas Perez and Shkodran Mustafi earlier this summer, here are five more players you could add to your Arsenal ranks to ensure you lift the league title for the first time since 2004 [virtually]…

Robert Lewandowski

Having been linked with the Poland international for the entirety of the real 2016 summer transfer window, as well as Borussia Dortmund’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, how about trying to prize Lewandowski away from the Bundesliga club’s rivals Bayern Munich?

Ranked number nine on FIFA 17 in the world, only behind fellow forwards Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Neymar, Luis Suarez, Gareth Bale and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the rating charts, securing the 28-year-old’s signature would certainly end the club’s search for a world-class striker.

That is not to say new addition, Perez, in real life, will fail to live up to expectations in North London, but Lewandowski hit a remarkable 42 goals in all competitions last season – those sort of numbers do not lie!

Antoine Griezmann

Harking back to reality, again, the Euro 2016 French star was linked with a cluster of Premier League outfits during the previous summer transfer window, including Wenger’s side.

However, no deal materialised. But, in FIFA 17, the world is your oyster!

The 25-year-old, who won the UEFA European Championship Golden Boot after netting six times for eventual runners-up France, is highly sought-after at La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid and is ranked the 17th best player in the world on FIFA 17.

Griezmann is perhaps, arguably, the best in-form player you can pursue in order to bring in that world-class winger.

Thomas Lemar

Rated as one of the game’s best left-sided attacking players, ranked 19th to be precise, the AS Monaco starlet could fill the void at the Emirates of an exciting and eccentric winger – despite Theo Walcott enduring a good run of form, whilst Alexis Sanchez is being deployed more of a striker so far this term.

Still only 20-years-old, the France Under-21 international still has heaps of potential and will certainly boast a sizeable growth statistic, despite already being rated a 82 overall – just one short of Chelsea’s Pedro, Manchester City’s Nolito and former Manchester United forward Nani.

You may well have already watched Lemar’s ability shine inside our very own national stadium not so long ago, as the Monaco ace netted in the Ligue 1 outfit’s Champions League victory over North London rivals Tottenham at Wembley Stadium earlier this month.

David Alaba

If Kieran Gibbs or Nacho Monreal aren’t tickling your fancy at left-back, how about strengthening that area before the start of your 2016/17 career mode?

The top player to pursue would be Austria star Alaba, who is FIFA 17’s top ranked left-back/left full-back, whilst also being the 32nd best player on the game overall.

With an impressive overall of 87 and a frightening pace statistic of 86, the Bayern Munich defender would simply blow both Gibbs and Monreal out the water, leaving them restricted to those several pre-season and EFL Cup appearances you don’t really pay much attention to.

Just imagine; Hector Bellerin on the right, and Alaba on the opposite flank… Lethal!

Alex Sandro

However if you don’t fancy splashing out the [inevitable] massive figure to lure Alaba from the Allianz Arena, much like Wenger would do in real life (let’s be honest), how about an alternative in Alex Sandro?

The lively left-back would be available for transfer this summer having joined Serie A champions Juventus back in August 2015 from FC Porto.

The 25-year-old would add some Brazilian flair to your side, boasting an 84 overall rating and an even speedier pace stat compared to Alaba (87).

With Patrice Evra also in Turin battling for a first-team spot, Juve may be tempted to part with Alex Sandro, given that you stump up the cash.

Happy hunting!
