5 players you must buy for Manchester United on FIFA 17

FIFA 17 is almost upon us! The award winning gaming series’ latest instalment is out on September 29.

So ahead of EA Sports’ latest release of the world renowned football video game, SHOOT takes a look at which players Manchester United fans should be looking to snap up inside the opening summer transfer window in career mode.

Despite the ‘Special One’ taking over at Old Trafford for the 2016/17 season, there are still various positions to strengthen under manager Jose Mourinho’s reign, plus those world-class players that the Red Devils should be looking to lure to The Theatre of Dreams in order to lift the club’s first Premier League title since the Sir Alex Ferguson era.

Having already wrapped up the likes of Paul Pogba, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Eric Bailly earlier this summer, here are five more players you could add to your United ranks to ensure you finish above arch-rivals Manchester City in the English top-flight and lift the league title for the first time since 2013 [virtually]…

Thomas Lemar

Rated as one of the game’s best left-sided players, ranked 19th to be precise, the AS Monaco starlet could fill the void at Old Trafford of an exciting and eccentric winger – if the likes of Memphis Depay, Ashley Young and Jesse Lingard aren’t doing the business for you.

Still only 20-years-old, the France Under-21 international still has heaps of potential and will certainly boast a sizeable growth statistic, despite already being rated a 82 overall – just one short of Chelsea’s Pedro, Manchester City’s Noltio and former United forward Nani.

You may well have already watched Lemar’s ability shine inside our very own national stadium not so long ago, as the Monaco ace netted in the Ligue 1 outfit’s Champions League victory over Tottenham at Wembley Stadium earlier this month.

Antoine Griezmann

Harking back to reality, the real Manchester United were linked with the Euro 2016 French star during the previous summer transfer window.

However, no deal materialised. But, in FIFA 17, the world is your oyster!

The 25-year-old, who won the UEFA European Championship Golden Boot after netting six times for eventual runners-up France, is highly sought-after at La Liga outfit Atletico Madrid and is ranked the 17th best player in the world on FIFA 17.

Griezmann is perhaps, arguably, the best player you can pursue in order to bring in that world-class winger.

Bruno da Silva Peres

FIFA 17’s highest ranked right wing back, Bruno Peres is a perfect candidate to solve the Red Devils’ right-back dilemma.

With Jose Mourinho seemingly in favour of deploying Antonio Valencia in defence, whilst out-of-favour Matteo Darmian is rated the same as the Ecuadorian on the video game (OVR 80), there is a slight underwhelmed feeling when selecting the team’s preferred right-back or right wing back.

Despite being linked with AS Monaco’s Fabinho during the previous summer transfer window, perhaps AS Roma’s Bruno Peres will tickle your fancy instead.

As mentioned before, he is the best ranked right wing back on FIFA 17 and possesses a frightening 92 pace rating.

There maybe one hiccup however. He is currently on loan at Roma, from Serie A rivals Torino, so you may have to wait a little longer to snap up the Brazilian ace.

Alessandro Florenzi

If Bruno Peres doesn’t tick all your right-back boxes, how about Italy international Florenzi? Another AS Roma star.

The 25-year-old, who is the seventh best ranked right-back on the entire game, boasts a credible 82 overall rating and has a 85 pace rating that would see him walk into your Red Devils XI.

With Bruno Peres and Florenzi battling it out for a first-team spot, given you offer enough money, the Italians are bound to fold and give in to selling either defender – just take your pick.

But considering the latter is permanently at the Stadio Olimpico, since 2011 for that matter, you are much more likely to secure Florenzi’s signature a lot sooner.

Cristiano Ronaldo

This man needs no introduction. Nor do we need to explain the reason(s) why you should re-sign the global superstar.

What Manchester United fan would not want to bring back Ronaldo to The Theatre of Dreams?

Officially FIFA 17’s number one player with an overall rating of 94, one better than rival and FC Barcelona legend Lionel Messi, career mode is an opportunity to lure the 31-year-old back to Old Trafford after a seven-year absence.

Still banging in the goals for fun, including 51 strikes in all competitions for La Liga giants Real Madrid last season, the three-time Ballon d’Or winner is showing no signs of ageing.

Having sold him for a then world record £80m fee back in 2009, unfortunately, you will still have to pay bucket loads to re-sign Ronaldo, even on FIFA 17.
