Chelsea celebrated lifting their fifth Premier League title with an emphatic 5-1 victory over relegated side Sunderland on Sunday.

Having already won the league nine days ago against West Bromwich Albion, The Blues were able to focus on having a title party at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea were also saying goodbye to long-serving defender John Terry, who was playing his 717th game for the club and making his final appearance at the Bridge.

Despite the occasion, the visitors took the lead inside three minutes with a goal from defender Javier Manquillo.

However their lead only lasted five minutes, with Willian marking his 180th appearance for the hosts with a goal from close-range.

Despite starting the match, departing captain Terry was substituted midway through the first-half and received a superb reception from the supporters and players from both clubs.

The Black Cats’ valiant defending was something that they were only able to maintain for the first-half of the match.

Eden Hazard scored his 16th league goal of the season to put the hosts ahead at the beginning of the second-half.

Substitutes Pedro and Michy Batshuayi completed the rout. The Spanish winger took advantage of a defensive mix-up to make it 3-1, before Belgian striker Batshuayi netted a quick-fire brace shortly before the end.

Shoot! looks at five things we learnt from Sunday’s title party at Stamford Bridge…

Captain, leader, legend

It was an emotional farewell as John Terry said his goodbyes to Chelsea supporters at the Bridge for one last time.

In a fitting tribute, Terry was bought off in the 26th minute – his shirt number.

After the game, the defender’s farewell speech even bought him to tears, along with numerous fans and his close friends and family.

Terry has played for the club since he was 14-years-old and has captained the team 580 times.

It’s the end of an era, as one of the Premier League’s greatest ever defenders has played his final league game for Chelsea.

Sunderland’s top-flight farewell

Sunderland’s Javi Manquillo celebrates opening the scoring at Stamford Bridge.

The visitors were playing in their final match as a Premier League side, having been relegated at the end of April and the result summarised their season.

David Moyes’ side showed signs in the first-half of coming away from South West London with a shock result, but it was not meant to be.

Their second-half performance showed just how bad things have become at club.

Sunderland need to have a serious turnaround over the summer if they are to stand any chance of returning to the top-flight in 12 months time.

Record 30 wins

Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.

The victory for the league winners was their 30th in the Premier League this season, making them the first team ever to have won 30 league games in a 38-game top-flight season.

Chelsea beat their own record of 29 wins that they reached in the title-winning campaigns of 2004-05 and 2005-06.

Their win total shows just how well they have played this season and that they are worthy champions.

Borini’s Bridge return

Sunderland forward Fabio Borini made a return to Stamford Bridge.

The Italian was a Chelsea player between 2007 and 2011, but he was regularly sent out on loan during his time in South West London.

Borini only made 12 appearances during his four-year spell, but his relationship with the club was displayed when he hugged John Terry during his guard of honour substitution in the first-half.

Since arriving permanently at Sunderland in 2015, Borini has only managed to score seven goals in 53 appearances.

The title party

Sunday’s match at the Bridge was the perfect way for The Blues to celebrate their fifth Premier League title.

Players, staff and supporters of Chelsea were all in the party atmosphere in traditional championship winning style.

Antonio Conte’s side will have been slightly holding back on their celebrations, with one eye on Saturday’s FA Cup Final against London rivals Arsenal.

A League and Cup double would be a fantastic achievement for the club and the perfect send off for their most successful player in the club’s history, Terry.
