Striker Saido Berahino has been reportedly placed on a special training regime after being at least 8lbs overweight prior to the recent international break, according to the Telegraph.
The 23-year-old, who is a former England Under-21 international, has failed to scored in five first-team games for West Brom so far this season – though, he has scored in his sole Premier League 2 appearance for the club.
It is understood that the forward was left out of the weekend’s 18-man squad that drew 1-1 with Tottenham due to his weight, with Berahino still on a special training regime in order to get fully fit.
The Telegraph add that the Burundi-born star has accepted the personal fitness programme and will be assessed by West Broms’ coaching staff this week, ahead of the club’s next top-flight fixture at Liverpool on Saturday.
Berahino’s future at the Hawthorns has previously been plunged into doubt during past transfer windows, with the striker being linked with a move to fellow Premier League outfit Spurs.
