Arsenal travel to Merseyside to face Liverpool in a crucial match in the Premier League title race on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s side arrive on Merseyside boasting a five-point lead over reigning champions Manchester City in second while Liverpool, who have challenged for the title regularly in recent seasons, find themselves in a battle to qualify for European football next term.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have failed to win any of their last three Premier League matches, a run that includes defeats to Bournemouth and Manchester City.

The Gunners will therefore fancy their chances of winning on Sunday, but regardless of how successful this season proves to be, Arsenal look set to bolster their squad this summer.

As per Caught Offside’s Christian Falk, the Premier League leaders are interested in Wolfsburg full-back Ridle Baku.

The 25-year-old has impressed in the Bundesliga so far this term, making 29 appearances across all competitions.

Falk claims that Arsenal have made contact with the Germany international, although The Gunners could face competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea who are also said to be interested.

Baku is said to be a target for both Arsenal and Chelsea

Baku joined Wolfsburg from fellow German club Mainz in 2020 and has been a regular ever since.

The right-back, who can also play as a winger, has already made more than 100 appearances for his current side, scoring 16 goals and registering 14 assists.

He made his senior debut for Germany in November 2020, and now has four caps to his name.

The German is contracted to his current side until the summer of 2025, which puts Wolfsburg under very little pressure to sell him this summer.

Arsenal have used centre-back Ben White as a makeshift right-back for much of this season, with Takehiro Tomiyasu playing a bit-part role.

They could therefore look to add another option at right-back, and Baku appears to be one of their top targets.

Chelsea, meanwhile, have struggled at right-back, with Reece James’ recent injury record a cause for concern.

The Blues did sign Malo Gusto from French side Lyon in January, before loaning the Frenchman back to the Ligue 1 side for the remainder of this season.

Spanish side Villarreal are also said to be interested in Baku, although Arsenal may be a more attractive offer for the player.
