Premier League rivals Man United and Arsenal are both interested in a move for Bayern Munich star David Alaba, with Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho earmarking him as a January reinforcement, according to reports from The Mirror.

The Austria international, who has won five Bundesliga titles and a Champions League – amongst other trophies – with the German giants, could be one of two January signings Mourinho has told Old Trafford chiefs he wants.

Bayern are unlikely to want to sell their stalwart, especially in the January window, but should the former Chelsea boss be granted the funds then a big offer could sway opinion.

Mourinho has been highly critical of former Southampton left-back Luke Shaw since he arrived at Old Trafford adn could therefore see Alaba as a replacement for the England international.

Whilst at The Emirates, Arsene Wenger has a consistent option in that position in Nacho Monreal, but will be wanting an upgrade in order to really challenge for silverware going forward.
