Arsenal welcome Greek side Olympiakos to The Emirates in the second round of Champions League group phase matches on Wednesday.
Mikel Arteta’s side produced a stunning late comeback to defeat Newcastle United at St. James’ Park on Sunday, with defender Gabriel netting a late winner after Mikel Merino had cancelled out Nick Woltemade’s opener.
After the visit of Olympiakos, Premier League title chasers Arsenal will host London rivals West Ham United.
In the meantime, it has emerged that Arsenal have been keeping tabs on a La Liga star who has attracted interest from several clubs across Europe.
According to CaughtOffside, both Arsenal and North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur have been scouting Real Madrid’s Arda Güler.
It is claimed that scouts from Newcastle United, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig have also been in attendance to watch the Turkey international in action lately.
Guler, 20, joined Real from Turkish side Fenerbahce in 2023 and has since played 69 times for the Spanish side across all competitions, scoring 15 goals and registering 14 assists.
This season the attacking midfielder has scored three goals and provided the same number of assists in eight matches for Xabi Alonso’s side so far this term.
He is under contract until the end of the 2028/29 season, and the report claims that the La Liga giants have no intention of allowing the player to depart.
The report suggests that both the club and the player himself are content at present, making a move away from the Spanish capital extremely unlikely.
It is claimed that Arsenal are particularly interested in Guler, with the Gunners’ admiration for the player having originated prior to the start of last season.
