Arsenal are reportedly closing in on a £42 million cash-plus-player deal to sign Napoli striker Gonzalo Higuain, according to itasportpress, via 90min.com.
The ‘official’ radio station of the Serie A club – Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli – is understood to have announced that the Gunners have offered £42 million plus striker Olivier Giroud for the Argentina international, with an agreement understood to be moving closer.
Juventus are also interested in the 28-year-old, who scored 38 goals in 42 appearances in all competitions for his side last term, but the 2016 Serie A runners-up don’t want to sell their star man to the only team that finished above them in the league last term.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has been on the search for a new attacker all summer, and has already missed out on Leicester City forward Jamie Vardy, who chose to stay with the Premier League champions rather than make the move south to the Emirates.
