Arsenal are close to announcing Brazilian Marquinhos as their first signing of the summer, as per reports.

According to The Guardian, the 19-year-old forward will join the Gunners in a deal worth around £3 million, becoming the first signing of the summer for Mikel Arteta’s side.

The teenager has made 41 appearances for current side Sao Paolo, scoring on four occasions, and has been capped by Brazil at under-17 level.

Arteta is in the market for attackers this summer, with Alexandre Lacazette having already left the club to rejoin former side Lyon after his contract expired.

Lacazette has already departed north London

The report does suggest that the Gunners are still looking to add at least one more forward to their ranks, with Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus still top of their list of targets.

It is also claimed that a number of other clubs including Wolves were interested in the player, who is likely to leave The Emirates on loan this season but is hotly tipped to be a success in the years to come.

Marquinhos will sign a five-year deal with Arsenal.
