Arsenal have reportedly been dealt a blow in the race to sign £38million-rated striker Alvaro Morata, with Paris Saint-Germain holding talks with the attacker’s agent, according reports in France via talkSPORT.

The 23-year-old currently plays for Juventus, but it is thought that Real Madrid will exercise an option to buy Morata back this summer for £23million – a clause that was inserted when they sold the forward to Juve in 2014 – before selling him on for a profit.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger had made the Spain international one of his top targets in the close season as he looks to buy a striker, but it is understood by L’Equipe that PSG have twice held talks with the player’s agent, Juanma Lopez, dealing a potential blow to the north London outfit.

Morata has caught the attentions of a number of the top clubs across Europe after scoring 27 goals in all competitions for Juve over the course of the past two years.
