Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger needs a centre-back, and he needs one now. With the club in the midst of a defensive crisis, clubs across Europe are driving up the prices of their defenders as Le Prof scours the globe for a solution.

With Valencia holding firm over Wenger’s top target, Shkodran Mustafi, and Tony Pulis demanding at least £25m for Jonny Evans, The Gunners are turning their attentions elsewhere.

According to reports from The Mirror, the North London outfit have lodged an enquiry with French side Monaco over a deal for Marcel Tisserand.

The 23-year-old is reportedly bound for Espanyol, however, there is still a chance of a move to The Emirates should the interest be made concrete quickly.

The DR Congo international made 36 appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit last season, scoring on one occasion, and can be deployed either as a centre back or a right back, a trait which would attract a shrewd spender such as Wenger.
