After a slow start to the summer transfer window, Arsenal have now completed three signings in recent weeks.
The Gunners have added Kepa Arrizabalaga to Mikel Arteta’s goalkeeping options, while midfielders Martin Zubimendi and Christian Norgaard have joined from Real Sociedad and Brentford respectively.
Midfielders Jorginho and Thomas Partey are among those to have departed The Emirates since the end of last season, and Arteta may still want to bolster his squad further before the start of next term.
With that in mind, it appears that the North London outfit are considering an audacious move for one of La Liga’s biggest stars.
As reported by GiveMeSport, Arsenal have reached out to the representatives of Real Madrid winger Rodrygo to establish the personal terms that would be required to sign the player.
It is claimed that the Gunners have been in touch with the Brazilian’s camp since Real’s exit from the Club World Cup in an attempt to gauge whether or not he would be interested in a move away from the Spanish capital.
Rodrygo, 24, joined Real Madrid from Brazilian side Santos in 2019 and has since made a total of 270 appearances for the club across all competitions.
During that time the Brazil international has scored 68 goals and provided 51 assists for Real, but his future at the club has been thrown into doubt with his starting spot on the right flank no longer guaranteed.
The winger started just 22 of Real’s 38 La Liga games last term under Carlo Ancelotti and ha started just once since Xabi Alonso took charge at the start of the Club World Cup.
Despite Arsenal’s interest, Real are in a commanding position as Rodrygo’s current contract – which includes a staggering £861 million release clause 0 doesn’t expire until the end of the 2027/28 season.
