Arsenal are reportedly looking to complete a club-record deal for France international forward Alexandre Lacazette, according to the Evening Standard.

The Gunners, who finished fifth in the English top-flight last term, missing out on subsequent qualification for the UEFA Champions League, have been continually linked with a mega money move for the Lyon hitman this summer.

The 26-year-old, who has 11 international caps for his country, scored a remarkable 37 goals and provided five assists in 45 appearances in all competitions for the Ligue 1 outfit last season.

Lacazette, who was the subject of a £44m offer from The Gunners earlier this month, has been with Lyon since 2003 and has netted 129 times in 275 games overall for the club.

However, the report suggests Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas values the forward at around £57m, meaning Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger needs to stump up an extra £13m for the Frenchman’s services.

Lacazette was expected to join Atletico Madrid this transfer window, but FIFA upheld their transfer ban against the La Liga outfit, meaning they cannot sign any players until January.
