Arsenal have beaten Manchester United and Everton to Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes with £22million deal agreed

Arteta has enjoyed a progressive start to his Arsenal tenure.

Arsenal have beaten Manchester United and Everton to Lille defender Gabriel Magalhaes with £22million deal agreed, according to the Daily Mail

The Brazilian centre back is on his way to Arsenal according to the Mail with a deal approved for the highly-rated Ligue 1 defender.

Arsenal fans will be delighted to hear the news with Premier League giants Man United and Everton reported to be interested, alongside European heavyweights Napoli.

Ancelotti was reported to be interested in Magalhaes.

The deal has not been confirmed yet, but the Mail have reported a fee has been agreed between the two clubs and the defender will make the switch to North London.

Magalhaes started 23 domestic games for Lille, helping them to secure a fourth-placed finish before the French top-flight was cancelled in April due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta was clearly keen to bolster his squad’s defensive capabilities having conceded far too many goals during the 2019/20 campaign.
