Arsenal have reportedly begun negotiations over a deal to sign Turkey international defender Çağlar Söyüncü, according to the Daily Mail.

The Premier League side, who host Stoke City at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday afternoon (13:30), have been linked with a summer swoop for the highly rated SC Freiburg centre-back.

The 21-year-old, who has 13 international caps for his country, has scored one goal in 25 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga outfit so far this season.

Söyüncü, who joined the German club from Turkish side Altinordu back in May 2016 for just £2.4m, has made 50 first-team outings for Freiburg overall.

The report suggests Söyüncü’s impressive displays this term has alerted the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Chelsea to his services, though rivals Arsenal are understood to have already held initial discussions over a potential transfer for the defender.

The Gunners’ head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat, is closely monitoring his progress, with the Premier League outfit said to be weighing up a summer bid for the Turkish talent, who is valued at around £30m.
