Arsenal travel north to face Manchester City in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday evening.

The match promises to be a spectacular encounter with the Premier League’s top two going head-to-head at The Etihad.

Both managers could look to rotate their squads, with Mikel Arteta likely to use the cup match as an opportunity to rest some of his key players.

When available, the Spaniard has used the same starting 11 for the majority of The Gunners’ league matches so far this term, although he may change things up on Friday.

Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey have made a combined 35 starts in the league so far, although Mohamed Elneny is injured and therefore won’t be able to deputise in midfield.

With that in mind, The Gunners have launched a big-money move for a Premier League midfielder.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the north London club have made an offer of £60 million for Brighton and Hove Albion star Moises Caicedo.

The 21-year-old has been in fine form over the past 12 months and impressed for his native Ecuador at the World Cup in Qatar.

His performances prompted Chelsea to launch a £55 million bid for the player last week, which was rejected by The Seagulls.

Caicedo has attracted interest from both Chelsea and Arsenal

Despite that, Arsenal have launched their own offer, with a view to signing the midfielder before the transfer window slams shut on Tuesday.

Caicedo joined Brighton from Ecuadorian side Independiente back in 2021 but spent six months on loan at Belgian side Beerschot VA before making his Seagulls debut in April last year.

Since being given his debut by now-Chelsea boss Graham Potter, the player has impressed on the south coast.

So far this season, he has started 18 of Brighton’s 19 Premier League games.

Romano claims that negotiations are entering into a key stage with such a short amount of time remaining before the window shuts.

Brighton remain adamant that they want to keep hold of Caicedo, who is contracted to the club until the summer of 2025.
