Arsenal have reportedly begun talks over a potential transfer for Gedion Zelalem, according to The Guardian.

The Premier League side, who currently sit fifth in the English top-flight standings following their opening 20 league games respectively, have been linked with sending the midfielder on loan to Borussia Dortmund this month.

The 19-year-old, who is a USA Under-23 international, has made just two first-team appearances for the Gunners so far this season, amounting to just 17 minutes of action in the club’s EFL Cup campaign against Nottingham Forest and Reading.

Zelalem, who was similarly loaned out to Scottish Premiership side Rangers last term, could return to Germany during the current transfer window, where he grew up until the age of nine.

Having made his Arsenal senior debut back in January 2014 against Coventry City in the FA Cup, the American ace hasn’t progressed as well as expected and has failed to work his way into Arsene Wengers’s first-team plans.
