Arsenal will aim to return to winning ways when they host Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Gunners remain top of the table despite losing 2-1 against title rivals Manchester City on Sunday, however Mikel Arteta’s side will slip to second place if the Citizens get the better of relegation-threatened Burnley on Wednesday evening.

Arteta has guided his side to second-placed finishes in each of the past three league campaigns, and the Spaniard will be desperate to go one better this time around.

Away from the action, though, it appears that Arsenal are working on a deal to sign a highly-rated teenager from South America.

As per UOL, via TEAMtalk, the Gunners have informed the representatives of Brazilian youngster Eduardo Conceicao that they intend to make a move to sign the player this summer.

Conceicao, 16, is widely regarded as one of the most promising young talents to have emerged from Brazil in recent years, although he is yet to make a senior appearance.

The teenager has scored five goals and provided three assists in 13 games for the Brazilian outfit’s under-20 side, and his impressive performances have put him on the radar of several of Europe’s biggest clubs.

It is claimed that Liverpool, Manchester City and Chelsea have all also been monitoring the player and made contact with his agents, with the Blues having signed several young players from South America in recent seasons.

Manchester United are also plotting a move for the attacker, who can play on the left flank or as an attacking midfielder.

Palmeiras are said to be demanding a fee of around £43.5 million for the youngster, however his release clause is double for clubs outside of his native Brazil.

While Newcastle United are another Premier League club said to be interested in the teenager, Conceicao himself is said to be keen on the idea of a move to La Liga champions Barcelona.
