Arsenal must snap up these 3 bargain buys in the January sales

With the January transfer window fast approaching Arsenal will be searching the market for players who can add to their options for the second half of the season.

The season has started well for Arsene Wenger’s side; whilst they haven’t torn up trees just yet they are unbeaten in the league since the opening day, currently sitting in 2nd place. Last weekend’s 5-1 hammering (excuse the pun) of West Ham was a particular highlight.

The Gunners will also be delighted to have topped their Champions League group for the first time since the 2011-12 campaign, despite once again drawing Bayern Munich in the round of 16.

The men from the Emirates have it all to play for during the second half of the season. They’ll be desperate to claim the Premier League title, having not scooped the prize for well over a decade now.

They’ll also be looking to make some headway in the Champions League for the first time in what feels like forever. To help them with these goals the recruitment team will no doubt be working overtime to identify players who can add extra quality to the side in January.

It’s always worth keeping an eye out for bargain buys during the window, as the money saved in these deals can be spent on other targets. With that said here’s THREE bargain buys Arsenal should be looking to snap up this January…

Thiago Silva

Thiago Silva’s contract is up this coming summer. When a player of his quality becomes available for a potentially cut-price fee you can be sure half of Europe will be asking after him, Arsenal should be no different.

Thiago Silva would be the ideal addition to Arsene Wenger’s backline. The Brazilian matches world-class ability with exceptional experience and leadership qualities. He still possesses good physical attributes for a 32-year-old and looks to have plenty more years left in him at the top level.

Fernandinho

Fernandinho has been in exceptional form so far this season under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola. However, the Brazilian’s contract is due to expire in June 2017, so he’s likely to be available for a fraction of his market value this January.

The commanding displays seen from the 31-year-old so far this campaign have been nothing short of exceptional. He’s a player Arsenal are in desperate need of as Granit Xhaka struggles to adapt to life in England, and one they should look to snap up this January.

Arjen Robben

Arjen Robben plainly and simply is a match-winner. He gets goals and assists in clutch moments and is capable of producing something out of nothing.

The Dutchman’s contract is up this summer and as a result he is likely to be available for much less than his market value in January. This is certainly an option City should be looking at as they push for domestic and continental glory this term.
