Arsenal are interested in re-signing AC Milan midfielder Ismael Bennacer, according to reports.

As per Calciomercato via Teamtalk, the Gunners are considering a move for the 24-year-old, who left north London in 2017 to join Empoli.

Bennacer was part of the Milan side that won the Serie A title last term, and the Algerian played a crucial part during the campaign, making 40 appearances across all competitions.

According to the report, Arsenal are ready to offer just under £34 million for their former midfielder, although they haven’t yet actually tabled an offer for the player.

Arteta is eyeing more signings this summer

The midfielder’s contract with Milan isn’t due to expire until 2024, meaning that the Italian side aren’t under pressure to sell.

Arteta has already had a busy summer window, signing Gabriel Jesus, Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira.

Bennacer made one appearance for Arsenal at senior level, during an EFL Cup tie against Sheffield Wednesday back in 2015.
