Arsenal are reportedly closing in on the signing of Football League starlet Ademola Lookman, according to TuttoMercatoWeb (via Read Arsenal).

The Premier League giants, who currently sit third in the English top-flight standings and face Watford on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium (15:00), are thought to be in pole position to land the Charlton Athletic forward ahead of rivals Crystal Palace, Manchester United and Tottenham once the 2015-16 campaign has drawn to a close.

The 18-year-old, who was playing non-league football with Waterloo FC only two years ago, has scored four goals in 16 league appearances for the lowly Addicks so far this season.

Lookman, who only signed a new contract extension with Charlton back in January to keep him at the club until June 2020, is being monitored by a whole host of Premier League clubs following his meteoric rise into professional football.

However the reports suggest that Arsene Wenger’s Gunners are favourites to land the Championship ace this summer.
