Arsenal are reportedly set to discuss a new deal for England international midfielder Jack Wilshere, according to the Daily Mail.

The Premier League side, who thrashed free falling Everton 5-2 at Goodison Park on Sunday in the top-flight, are expected to sit down with the player’s representatives in the next few weeks in an attempt to extend his contract at the Emirates Stadium.

The 25-year-old, who has 34 international caps for the Three Lions, has provided two assists in five appearances in all competitions for the Gunners so far this season.

Wilshere, who joined the North London outfit’s academy ranks at the age of nine back in 2001, has scored 12 goals in 165 games overall for Arsene Wenger’s side, winning two FA Cups and an FA Community Shield.

However, the central midfielder can leave on a free transfer next summer with his current deal set to expire in June 2018.

But the report suggests Arsenal are ready to negotiate extending Wilshere’s contract at the Emirates, despite his serious injury problems over the last three years, given his return to form for Wenger’s first-team recently.
