Arsenal stalling on new contract for Wales international midfielder Aaron Ramsey

Ramsey has started just seven Premier League matches under Unai Emery.

Arsenal have stalled over talks with Wales international star Aaron Ramsey over a new contract, according to The Sun.

The Premier League side, who suffered a 3-2 defeat at Stamford Bridge to London rivals Chelsea on Saturday evening, are keen to tie down the central midfielder to a new deal at the Emirates Stadium.

The 27-year-old, who has 53 international caps for The Dragons, has played in both league games against Manchester City and Chelsea so far this season, but did not start at Stamford Bridge at the weekend.

Ramsey, who joined The Gunners back in June 2008 following his reported £4.8m move from Cardiff City, has scored 59 goals in 333 appearances in all competitions for the North London outfit overall, winning three FA Cups and two FA Community Shields.

Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey in action with Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic on Saturday.

However, with just 10 months remaining on the midfielder’s current contract at the Emirates, the report claims the club have not made any progress over an extension for the Welshman.

Ramsey, who is reportedly being monitored by Premier League rivals Chelsea and Manchester United, will be available to speak to other clubs come the January transfer window, and is valued at £40.5m.

It is understood that the player wants a pay rise on his current £110,000-a-week wages.
