Arsenal are one of a number of Premier League sides that are yet to make a signing so far this summer.
The window was opened earlier than usual this year in order to allow clubs competing in the FIFA Club World Cup to register players before the start of the tournament.
It then reopened on Monday, but the Gunners are yet to bolster Mikel Arteta’s squad despite finishing as Premier League runners-up in each of the past three seasons.
Now, it appears that one current member of Arteta’s side could be on his way out of the club this summer.
As reported by CaughtOffside, talks between the North London club and midfielder Thomas Partey about a new contract are currently at a deadlock.
The report suggests that the 32-year-old is demanding a pay rise if he is to sign an extension to his current contract, which is due to expire at the end of June.
Arsenal, however, have currently only offered to match the midfielder’s current wages and have been informed by his representatives that Partey will depart The Emirates if an improved offer isn’t tabled.
Partey joined the Gunners from Spanish side Atletico Madrid in 2020 and has since played an important role for Arteta’s side.
In total the Ghana international has featured more than 160 times for his current side across all competitions, including 52 appearances last season as Arsenal once again finished second in the Premier League table but reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
The report claims that both Turkish side Fenerbahce and Italian outfit AC Milan have submitted offers to the midfielder, who could be available as a free agent next month.
