Arsenal will be hoping to end their remarkable season on a high by beating Wolves on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s side topped the Premier League table for several months before being knocked off their perch by Manchester City in April.

The Citizens have since gone on to secure a third consecutive title, helped by a run of poor results for the Gunners.

Despite failing to capitalise on their advantage at the top of the table, Arteta will undoubtedly be pleased with the fact that his side have qualified for the Champions League.

The north London outfit will compete in the competition for the first time in more than six years, and the Spaniard will be keen to bolster his squad ahead of their European campaign.

A number of players have been linked with a move to The Emirates, but it now appears that Arsenal could be set to lose one of their current crop.

Maitland-Niles is currently on loan at Southampton

According to Football Insider, midfielder Ainsley Maitland-Niles will leave Arsenal when his contract expires next month.

The report claims that the Englishman, who is currently on loan at fellow top flight club Southampton, can expect offers from other clubs.

Maitland-Niles, 25, has spent almost two decades with Arsenal but it is claimed that the club decided not to trigger a 12-month extension clause in his current contract.

The Saints loanee made his senior debut for the Gunners in 2014 as a 17-year-old, but only ever played a bit-part role in north London.

He has spent time on loan at Ipswich Town and Roma, as well as Southampton, but the five-time England international has only ever played 132 times for Arsenal since his debut nine years ago.

This term, Maitland-Niles has made 27 appearances across all competitions, playing in several roles including central midfield, right-back and in the centre of defence.

A versatile player capable of operating in midfield or at full-back, Maitland-Niles is said to currently be earning around £35,000-per-week.

The report claims that the player is in line to receive ‘lucrative’ offers, with Premier League sides said to be interested.
