Arsenal are yet to make a new signing so far this summer despite once again missing out on the Premier League title last term.
The Gunners have finished second in the top flight table in each of the past three seasons, twice missing out to Manchester City before Liverpool pipped them to the title last term.
Mikel Arteta will be desperate to see his side improve next season and challenge once again for the title that has eluded them for two decades, but the Gunners haven’t yet made a single signing so far this summer.
That could soon change, though, with CaughtOffside claiming that the North London giants have stepped up their pursuit of Ajax defender Jorrel Hato.
The 19-year-old is regarded as one of the best young prospects in the Eredivisie at present and has already played more than 110 times for the Amsterdam giants at senior level across all competitions.

It is claimed that Arsenal have been in talks with the player’s representatives and have tabled a six-year offer to the player, who is considering the proposal.
The Gunners have also been in contact with Ajax about a potential deal for the teenage defender, who has already played six times for The Netherlands at senior level.
Arsenal’s fierce London rivals Chelsea are also said to have shown interest in the left-back and even held talks about a potential deal, but the report claims that the Gunners are hoping to beat them to the signing.
Fellow Premier League sides Liverpool and Newcastle United are also said to be keeping tabs on the Dutchman, while Spanish giants Real Madrid are also credited with an interest.
Hato is currently under contract until the end of the 2027/28 season.
