Arsenal team news: Predicted line-up vs West Ham – Pepe set for recall?

Arsenal interim manager Freddie Ljungberg will hope it’s third time lucky on Monday as he looks to record his first win when he takes his side across the capital to face West Ham United.

The Swede has collected just one point from his opening two matches since the sacking of Unai Emery, following up the 2-2 draw at Norwich City with a disappointing 2-1 home defeat to Brighton on Thursday.

After the weekend’s results, the Gunners sit 11th and just four points off the bottom-three having failed to win in their last seven Premier League matches.

So with three points very much needed, Ljungberg boss has some big decisions to make when selecting his starting XI.

Which players will Freddie opt for? We predict Arsenal’s line-up to take on the Hammers….

GK: Bernd Leno

Has been one of Arsenal’s better players this season and has performed excellently in the past two matches.

RB: Hector Bellerin

Started against Brighton and should continue to play as he still works his way back to full match fitness following his spell on the sidelines.

CB: David Luiz

Despite being unconvincing since his move from Chelsea, the experienced Brazilian seems to be the club’s first-choice centre-back.

CB: Rob Holding

Ljungberg picked Shkodran Mustafi and then Sokratis to partner Luiz in his first two matches. That didn’t really work so he may now turn to Holding.

LB: Kieran Tierney

After starting Sead Kolasinac for the matches against Norwich and Brighton, Ljungberg should now give the £25million a run in the side.

DM: Matteo

Was given a rest against Brighton but is expected to be recalled after Granit Xhaka and Lucas Torreira failed to get to grips with the Seagulls’ midfield on Thursday.

CM: Granit Xhaka

This could’ve been either one of Xhaka or Torreira but – despite underperforming – the Swiss seems to have the backing of Ljungberg having started the previous two games.

AM: Mesut Ozil

Another player who’s started both matches under Ljungberg, the German has seen more minutes in recent months and his teammates will hope he can produce another assist – as he did against Brighton.

FW: Nicolas Pepe

The £72million man has had a tricky start to his Arsenal career but he definitely gave the Gunners more of a spark when he was introduced at half-time against Brighton.

FW: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Always the first name on the team-sheet as it stands. The Gabon international has 12 goals this term and will be aiming to add to that at the London Stadium.

FW: Alexandre Lacazette

Scored his fifth of the campaign against Brighton and will be hoping to go on a run in order to help Arsenal climb up the table.
