Arsenal’s Eddie Nketiah has revealed he joined Leeds on loan against boss Unai Emery’s wishes, according to TalkSPORT.
Nketiah, who is spending a season on loan at Leeds from the Gunners has scored three goals in his first five games this season and is already a hit with the Whites’ faithful.
However, what seemed like a brilliant move for both clubs, with the 20-year-old getting valuable game time, it turns out Arsenal boss Unai Emery wanted his young striker to stay.
Nketiah said: “The manager wanted me to stay so it’s really confidence-boosting for me that he had me in his plans.
“But I felt like it was a good step for me to come to Leeds.
“I hope it’s a good year that can leave me in good stead going back to Arsenal to fight for a place.”
The young Gunner is mentored by ex-Arsenal goalscorer Ian Wright, a partnership which is clearly paying dividends as Nketiah scored a brace for the England u21’s victory against Turkey on Friday.
